Good afternoon, every one. It is an honor to present you our group report of Extra Credit. In the book, Abby and Sadeed had a similar experience which was that they climbed. Although they both are careful climbers, Abby and Sadeed climbed for different reasons. Abby climbed just for play, while Sadeed climbed for survival: Sadeed can climb but what he truly wanted was the mountains could vanish someday; on the contrary, Abby just wished to prove herself that she was capable to overcome a steep wall and get to the top, so she practiced over and over again in her gym classes. It has created a very interesting situation that Sadeed tried to avoid climbing and Abby, on the other hand, expected it every day. Abby lives in the U.S. which is safe, free, open in most of the places; however, Sadeed's country was at war most of the time. Compare the artificial rock wall and the real mountains, we find that they reflect on Abby's and Sadeed's life in his/ her own country. As mentioned, the rock wall is safe. That means you won't get killed if you fall down of it. Abby's life in America is peace and quiet. Again, the mountains in Afghanistan is as dangerous as the life there. It's like when you fall off of the mountain, you obviously be dead and you would easily be killed by unexpected bombs, too. you can remove it at anytime you want. you can't romove it by ordinary power. To me, I think not only the rock wall in Abby's school but also the mountains of Afghanistan are hard to climb.
